KPES offers postgraduate programmes leading to a Ph.D. degree in either Czech or English and in both full-time and combined form. Full-time students of the Czech programme get a monthly allowance during the three years of their studies. Its size depends on the doctoral student’s results, dissertation project, publishing and research activity and his or her participation in teaching and other doctoral programme activities.

Each doctoral student has his or her own supervisor, depending on the topic of their dissertation. Ph.D. students at KPES are divided into four research teams, each lead by a docent responsible for the particular field of research and education. Research assistants and other assistants at KPES are also members of the teams according to their field of interest.

International Relations and Modern History – lead by prof. PhDr. Jiří Lach, Ph.D. M.A.

Applicants for the Ph.D. programme are advised to contact one of the team leaders according to their dissertation project thesis. Applicants have to prepare a research project that they will present at their entrance interview.
